"Connecting the world, one word at a time"
The biblical tower of Babel, a heaven-reaching tower's construction was interrupted by the confusion of different tongues."  We all know that as much as we want our message to be understood as accurately as intended, it does not always work that way.

As logical as it sounds, a large number of companies have taken this issue lightly and led themselves into a huge disaster.  Many have learned the hard way, the expensive way or the embarrassing way.

The familiar slogan "Pepsi comes alive" came out in Chinese language as "Pepsi brings your ancestors back from the grave."  The famous Parker Pen company whose original ad "To avoid embarrassment, use Parker SuperQuink" was translated and printed in 2,000 metal signs in Mexico as "To avoid pregnancy, use Parker SuperQuink."  And who could forget the tarnished mark in the history of the Chevrolet Nova?  It sold well all over the world but to the Spanish population.  People were reluctant to purchase the Chevy car for fear that it would not run since "Nova" means "No go" in Spanish.  As recent as April 2013, retail giant Target was mortified to have one of their Mossimo line of sandals named "Orina." It was thought to mean "peace" or "peaceful," but it actually means "urine" in Spanish.

These are real cases.  And there are a lot more.  Any good translator will tell you that translation is more than converting one word from one language to another.  Customization, without losing the original meaning, is key.
